RAIPUR — Orrish Group announced a commitment to achieve net-zero operational emissions across its businesses by 2040, supported by a phased roadmap covering renewable energy, water stewardship, and responsible procurement.
Under the plan, the group will progressively expand rooftop and on-site solar generation across its larger facilities, target a measurable reduction in freshwater intensity through recycling and rainwater harvesting, and adopt stricter environmental criteria for suppliers.
"Sustainability is not a campaign for us; it is part of building things that last," said Devansh Orrish, Chairman of Orrish Group. "If we want our businesses to be trusted by the next generation, they must be responsible to it. That is the whole point of a roadmap to 2040 — it outlives any of us."
The group said an internal sustainability council, drawing members from each vertical, would oversee implementation and report progress annually. Capital allocation decisions above a defined threshold will now incorporate an emissions and resource-impact assessment.
Early measures already in place include solar installations at the group's flagship hotel and several construction sites, water-recycling systems at key facilities, and tree-plantation drives carried out with community participation through the Shivasha Foundation.
Management acknowledged that decarbonising an infrastructure-heavy, diversified group would be challenging and would require new technologies to mature. It said it had deliberately set a credible, phased target rather than an aspirational headline, and would refine interim milestones as it learns.
The announcement positions Orrish Group among the regional business houses making formal long-term climate commitments, an area where management said it intends to lead by demonstration rather than declaration.
